| Back Now. |
[Nov. 13th, 2009|11:53 am] |
well now I know what's the real scary thing...
THOSE HALLOWEEN GHOST/HAUNTED HOUSES ARE NOT SCARY AT ALL, COMPARING TO 4 MID-TERM TEST + 2 ESSAYS IN 9 DAYS. I'm prond and happy that I still survive from the hard school stuff...:( I was nearly broken down on last weekend...suffered in flu, headache and backpain. My back is still feeling pain now, but the situation is much better. There'll be group projects and papers in the coming weeks..hope everything will be okay.
we're going to have a presentation on bullying in the coming Monday, and I would like to mention the Emo kid who commited suicide after being bullied. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2110660/13-year-old-suicide-over-emo-cult-bullying.html I dont know what my classmates would react (as they're rather stick to the major culture), but I really hate bullying on people with different sub-cultures.
Some pic from the Halloween night. I would not call my outfits as costume, since it's merely what I love to be in and I'm not intending to "stand out" with it...i wore it on 31stOct simply because my parents wouldnt be shocked on that day. *shy* yeah it's important to always be myself, yet it doesnt feel good to be stared on street.

| Swimsuits in changing rooms |
[Nov. 12th, 2009|09:23 am] |
You know what pisses me off? I'm angry every time I go swimming now. You know what else pisses me off? I've begun getting out of the pool a few minutes earlier so I can shower in peace and at least be in a towel before the "schoolchildren" arrive. (I'm vindicated by the other patrons, some of whom still shower naked too.) I cower in my little cubicle and then go to retrieve my swimsuit from a washbasin of water and use the toilet before I leave.
As I do these last two things, the girls are standing around in their bathing suits either taking a pre-dip shower or waiting to do so. Obviously, I get some "Who are you?" looks.
So I'm fully dressed and they're in bathing suits. If I glance at any of them as I walk past, however innocently, what will they do?
"Who is that strange woman who's always there when we arrive on a Thursday morning, and always the last to leave?" [because I work from home and don't have to rush]
"Miss, she looked at me funny."
It looks like I've now got to get afraid of litigation myself, and change the time that I swim to avoid the precious kiddies. If something is said, it is discovered that I'm a homo, and they put two and two together and get four hundred and sixty-three... we may be a homo-friendly country these days, but when it comes to Protecting Our Children, who knows... I've been influenced to think differently, to think in terms of Fear Of Litigation and consider acting on it, and that's what pisses me off most of all. |

| Advice? |
[Nov. 11th, 2009|08:43 pm] |
I modeled in a group photo shoot in May and I've only seen two photos from it. I didn't think to get any information from the four photographers I worked with that day, so I have to rely on communication with the woman who organized the shoot.
The problem is, she ignored my e-mails for about four months. She finally replied to my e-mail on Saturday and said that she would send me links to my photos on Monday (and kept saying that she's alread sent them to me). No sign of the links yet.
Am I doomed to never see my photos? Is there anything I can do?
And so it's not text only, here's a picture from my first shoot:

| I don't think you know what that word means... |
[Nov. 11th, 2009|12:57 pm] |
If I've overheard this once, I can't even imagine how many times the actual parents have had to deal with the stupid. At a street fair last Friday, I was talking to an acquaintance with triplets. A stranger came up:
Stranger: "Aww, how cute! Are they triplets?" Mom: "Yes." Stranger: "Were they born on the same day?" My Brain: *breaks* |

| New Desert Orchid Corset |
[Nov. 11th, 2009|11:24 pm] |
She came to me on Halloween :)

Unfortunately I don't yet have a modesty panel for her *(it's kind of a funny story) so for now I won't be wearing her out any time soon. But goodness, I just can't stop staring at her.
*Bethan forgot to put it in when she shipped the corset and then the Royal Mail appeared to have misplaced it when she did so now there's a second one on the way. Hopefully that one arrives. Haha

| Anyone here familiar with Bibian Blue corsets? |
[Nov. 11th, 2009|05:47 pm] |
Hello there!
I'm looking to purchase a Bibian Blue charlotte corset from fairygothmother as something a bit more afordable, but of good quality] after my latest custom-made splurge. Does anyone have any experience with Bibian Blue corsets? Do they hold up well? I'm particularly worried about the back lacing setup, as i'm used to the traditional grommets, and this corset has something different. Do these withstand consistant wearing and lacing for a 3-5" reduction each time? The picture of the back of the corset on fairygothmother seems to show that the boning in the back is bending.
Any insight would be highly appreciated before I drop this kind of money haha.

| Reversible Edwardian Waist Cincher |
[Nov. 10th, 2009|11:08 pm] |
My latest commissioned corset is a fully reversible waist cincher, with red satin on one side and black satin on the other. The core is two layers of coutil, boned with 1/2" flats except for either side of the grommets, which is 1/4" flats. Piecing is seven panels per side, for greater stability despite the hourglass figure. When drafting, I try not to create panels that are more than 2.5" inches wider than the hip than waistline, because that creates too much bias and makes the pattern more prone to turning out larger at the hip than intended.
I have found satin to be unforgiving when added as a cover layer at the end, so I treated each cover panel and its corresponding core panel as a single layer when assembling the panels. The stitches are made with buttonhole thread from the red side, on the assumption that if the black side is not precisely lined up with the red side, any slight variations in stitch position relative to seam will be hidden by black-on-black.
